Antique Black Dome Top Steamer Trunk – Circa 1863

This trunk has the original makers label on the inside of the trunk, we discovered the shop at 7 George St, Oxford listed in a directory of taverns, inns and historical public houses dated 1863 and have therefore dated the trunk accordingly. It really is quite astonishing to think of the journey this trunk will have been on and who will have owned it.

Has Iron lifting handles to both sides and decorative studs to the top and sides of the trunk. Also bares original shipping labels.

Would have been originally used as a railway or shipping trunk for carrying possessions of wealthy travelers.

This steamer chest would make a fabulous addition to any bedroom, at the bottom of the bed as a storage chest, or could be used as a feature in a living room, hall or office.
