Antique Box with Iron Detailing

Antique box with iron details and banding to add strength to the corners. A really special small box which is cork lined. We have done some research but are unable to identify exactly what this box would have been used for. We think it is about 100 to 150 years old and the cork lining would have been used to protect the contents of the box which we think is likely to have been tea or tobacco.

There would have been a leather strap across the top of this wooden box for carrying but unfortunately due to the age of the piece this has perished.

A very decorative box with a lovely patina which would make a great gift.

All of our vintage antique wooden chests, trunks and blanket boxes are old, often over 100 years old and will therefore show signs of use which we feel add to the character and appeal of the item.
